That Soylent Green is people? And the cake is a lie?... And that his king is killing off his own people?... since when in any sort of king ruled nation that the leader hasn't done that?

Absolute power corrupts. Fact.
Idolisation can get you killed/on wrong side. Fact.
Giving the bad guy a sob story to disclaim his evilness. Cliché.

@Deonis But it's a fact that most Cliché things are true. That is why they are Cliché... They are predictable and boring. because they can happen. It's the unexpected that is exciting!...

BUT! I like good Clichés.
And this fits, where most from other stories do not. Or they try to hard to make them fit. Or the big one. Is where a story teller will do something and make the character give a wink at the reader rather then the actual people in the story, breaking the fourth wall and totally ruining the ambiance.
So even though this is Cliché... It's good, and could be far worse.
